Designed for macOS and iOS devices, macOS Server makes it easy to share files, schedule meetings, synchronize contacts, develop software, host your own website, publish wikis, configure Mac, iPhone, and iPad devices, remotely access your network, and more. MacOS Server is an application you can add to macOS right from the Mac App Store.
Anyone can quickly and easily turn a Mac into a server that’s perfect for home offices, businesses, schools, developers, and hobbyists alike. Some features require an Apple ID and/or compatible Internet access; additional fees and terms apply. Some features require program enrollment. Some features are not available in all countries.
I installed JaS and it goes to the setup and everything. It says 'Server Assistant is collecting system information.' And gives me the spinny progress bar, but it doesn't ever stop and the 'continue' option is available, so I just click that.
It asks me about my keyboard layout, etc. And then I get to the 'Serial Number' screen. I have tried several serials, but what looks to be the best one--[removed]--is what I have been using lately, though they all give me the same problem. Side note: I had to reset the date on my clock to one year earlier, otherwise it gave me the 'your serial number has expired' error when I used that serial. No matter what I do: change the Registered to/Organization fields, have the internet plugged in or not, use different serials I even left it OVERNIGHT but it simply won't finish this process.
It just gives me that stupid little spinning thing and says 'Validating Serial Number' forever. I have tried bypassing it with Command + Q and this worked once, but I didn't get very far because I couldn't login or do anything until I entered a serial. But now it doesn't even give me the option, just 'Shut Down' or 'Continue' ('Continue' being try the serial again) when I do Command + Q.

PLEASE HELP!!! Okay, well I had found a few instances of the same problem, but no one else had found a solution either. Finally, after a lot of searching through Apple's online guide, I finally figured it out and now I feel really stupid.
I was trying to set it up as an 'Advanced' server and then (if possible) setting up an Active Directory on it, but setting up an 'Advanced' or 'Workstation' server requires an AD to already exist on the network! All I need to do is set it up as a 'Standard' server. Of course, there are no drivers for my integrated network interface, and setting up a Standard server requires an active internet connection, but I'm going to run out and get a supported card tomorrow. So now that the solution is out there, hopefully no one else will run into this problem. I purchased a copy of OSX 10.5 server off ebay for $185 dollars, and am trying to install on JAS 10.5.4 on an old laptop, I have spent two days trying to get it to go past the swirling 'validating serial number'. I KNOW FOR A FACT THIS KEY IS LEGIT, but it just keeps on spinning, not even this serial in expired/invalid.
Some many people are quick to jump down the throats of other people, This is an osx86 specific issue I believe. Can anyone help? I too can't force it into safe mode.
